Dr Nichols has asked us to provide you with an update regarding his ongoing extended absence from the surgery.
Shortly after Christmas Dr Nichols was diagnosed with a cancerous lesion at the back of his mouth; he had surgery followed by a 6-week course of radiotherapy which he has been told has been successful in treating his cancer. However, the side effects from the radiotherapy affected him much longer than anticipated; limiting his ability to undertake the day-to-day commitments at the surgery. It has therefore become clear to him that he will not be able to return to work later this year as he had originally hoped.
After a great deal of consideration, he has come, to the sad but ultimately inevitable conclusion to retire earlier than he had planned from Park Lane Surgery. He will officially retire from the surgery on 31 December 2021.
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking to arrange an appropriate send off for Dr Nichols, hopefully sometime in December, to commemorate his 27 years of service at Park Lane Surgery.
Dt Nichols also wanted us to take this opportunity to send his thanks to everyone who sent him cards, thoughts, and best wishes over the last few months.
